Adding a socket 7 processor is a bit more complicated than adding memory or a hard drive. There is a couple more steps which if you know how to do and if you have a basic computer knoweldge you should be able to do it, but I am going to tell you up front that I recommend that a techinian perform this operation. The processor that you put in makes alot of difference depinding on brand and speed. Some motherboards are only compatible with certain processors so check your motherboard configurations to see what it is comptible with.

TAKING PROCESSOR OUT
1)Take all saftey percations and open up your computer. Find the processor which should be around or near a fan.

2)Once you have located your processor if yours is the type which it has the fan on top unplug the fan and take it off. Others have a heat sink on top if so take that off.

3)Ok now you should be able to see your processor most are flat and square. Once you think you see it there should be a little brown (color varies) handle right next to it and pull it up to a 90 degree angle. If you did it right the processor should have popped out and all you have to do is grab it by the sides and pull straight up.

PUTTING NEW PROCESSOR OUT
1)Take new processor and insert it straight in the holes and make sure you line the pins up right.

2)Pull the lever down and and put the fan/heat sink back on.

If you have any questions or comments that would go further into detail our questions about what I wrote please post a comment.
