I was really surprised in reading about this new service that allows you to make free long distance calls from your U.S. home to anywhere else in the country! When I first found the website, I signed up and made my first call to a friend of mine living a few hundred miles away absolutely free. Because it was in the middle of the day, that 5 minute call probably would have cost me about 60 or 70 cents with my normal long distance plan.

But that's the problem with this service. All calls are limited to 5 minutes. The way it works is you input your number and the number of the person you would like to call, and press the button to connect the call. First, you get an automated message to your phone identifying the service and playing an ad that lasts about 30 seconds. Then, your call is automatically connected. You don't even have to dial!

The reason this service is so much better than the others is because you can just use your regular phone instead of hassling with computer microphones and headphones. I have never had a problem getting through, and I will definitely use this service frequently in the future.

It is kind of a pain to be cut after 5 minutes, especially when talking to family or loved ones. You can just call again every five minutes, but it is kind of a hassle and really can break up a conversation. This service is ideal for a business with more than one phone line or a DSL connection because all calls could be put through the site and long distance bills would dissapear.

I hope in the future the 5 minute maximum calling time is extended as the site gets more recognition. We'll see what happens.
