| gd134's Full Review: HP Pavilion 6653C |
I bought this fine machine from Circuit City before I went to college and it has lived up to its reputation. The 15GB harddrive is more than enough space for MP3's and such. In addition, the CPU is fast and dependable!
The CD writer is excellent! When I burn CD's the quality is almost identical to the CD's or mp3's that I copy. However, the program that comes with it is not so good. Adaptec CD Creator 3.0 requires you to convert .mp3 files to .wav files. This often results in a loss of quality when you burn the CD's. I suggest buying Adaptec CD Creator 4.0 to burn CD's. You do not have to convert .mp3 files and the program has many other added features that are amazing!
Other than these few minor problems, I have found that this computer runs extremely smooth and hardly ever crashes. The video and sound cards are of high quality and reliability!
Let me tell you about some problems I have encountered with the HP Pavilion 6653C: (Note: I'm being really picky with these!)
One slight problem with the CPU is that there is no reset button. This presents a problem only when the computer crashes. To be honest with you: I don't know why HP still hasn't added a reset button to the Pavilion. Nevertheless, the computer rarely crashes and when it does you just have to reach around and unplug the CPU.
Also, included with this package are Polk wonderful and you can pay $30 extra and pick up some good speakers with a subwoofer.

I RECOMMEND THIS COMPUTER PACKAGE FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR AN AFFORDABLE PC!
(You can usually find this computer in stores with a large rebate)
*However, if you are looking for a top of the line PC, this model is slightly outdated and you may want to look at some newer HP models.
This computer is excellent for:
