This is only the beginning! Curious about BlueLight.com, and seeking another ISP to accompany AOL on my laptop, I headed over to Kmart. At the checkout I grabbed a copy of BlueLight.com’s free CD for installing their free ISP.
While I collect my e-mail on AOL, I was having some tough times with AOL 4.0 on my laptop. I had tried an unsuccessful upgrade to AOL 5.0 and my computer kept crashing. Returning to 4.0 I had similar problems. The browser’s functionality was limited and I kept freezing my system.
BlueLight.com took a very short time to load. Almost instantly, I was off and running. Immediately, I was impressed. Forget about any previous perceptions you had of Kmart in the past, BlueLight.com is totally hip.
BlueLight.com is a phenomenon. Not only do you get free internet access but you get a terrific service from a company founded on the four principles: value, convenience, trust and fun. BlueLight was founded in 1999 by Kmart and Softbank Venture Capital. Backed by $62.5 million by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Within a year, $80 second round funding was secured.
BlueLight’s concept is based around a philosophy called “sticky bricks.” Bringing the stickiness of a successful web page to a bricks-and-mortar setting. BlueLight wants you, the consumer, to have the total online/offline customer experience. If you can’t find it retail, you should have the ability to find it online and vice versa.
BlueLight is providing computer kiosks at Kmart in order to look up all your shopping needs on their site. BlueLight is also enhancing their own brand with private label products. Offering over 60,000 products, BlueLight unveiled their own preview store in June of this year. BlueLight is doing for retail consumerism what Gateway did for the PC Revolution. Merging the online experience and the retail setting.
BlueLight has become the world’s fastest growing ISP. In less then a year’s time they have surpassed 4 million subscribers. The website features over half a million products from which you can by.
An ad bar docks on your screen wherever you chose, top or bottom. From this you get free e-mail, IM and chat features and a variety of channels ranging from news, weather, sports, auctions, etc all courtesy of Yahoo. Since I am already registered with Yahoo I received a friendly, personal greeting when I logged onto BlueLight.com.
Getting on wasn’t a problem. There was a large collection of dial up numbers for me to choose from. I chose three in close proximity and immediately logged on to BlueLight with no problems at over 50k.
BlueLight advertises BlueLight Special Offers and other specials on the web. BlueLight also tries to get your attention with free trial offers, coupons and special values. The company is so hip that on BlueLight Tuesday’s they have to wear clothes purchased at Kmart around the office.
If you want a free ISP from a hip company that is raking in millions online look no further then BlueLight. I was able to surf free and easy. No pun intended.
If you want to save a bundle of money shopping online and also enjoy the benefits of the free ISP the BlueLight specials or ad bar is hardly a bother. BlueLight.com is reshaping the clicks/bricks paradigm that can only mean a win/win situation all around. Besides the president for BlueLight.com is on the Board of Advisors for Epinions.
