| eprousa's Full Review: NetZero |
Netzero started out pretty good: easy to go online, and connection speed was good, eventhough local numbers were just a few. Now, Netzero has a lot more local numbers, but at the same time, they keep switching some local numbers from "primary" to "backup only", this causes problems. Now, it is almost impossible to connect with Netzero at my area eventhough I have tried at least three local numbers and one or two numbers that could be zone calls. Also, the banner ad seems to be more hungry than ever. It really slowdown the connection speed, and tend to freeze more often than before. About two weeks ago, I start having problem sending e-mail with outlook via Netzero's SMTP server. I kept trying for weeks, and couldn't send out one single e-mail through Netzero's SMTP server, however, incoming e-mail has no interruptions. Now there are quite a few free internet services out there, and it surely is not helping the situation with Netzero. I have four free internet connection services set up at my home computer, and Netzero probably has the lowest success rate in getting a connection, and the most frequency of freezing my computer up. The banner is also bigger than most free internet services. The only banner that is comparable to Netzero's in size is from a dot com company which pays you cash base on the time you spend online with their banner on. In a nut shell, Netzero is not as good as it used to be, and definately not as appealing with all these newcomers in the free internet service providers' market. Netzero need to upgrade and improve their connection availability and connection speed to regain the reputation and market share they once enjoyed.
