Diablo... Just the NAME was enough to make me want to play this game. Fight demons, undead minions, and the master of darkness himself at the end....
The platform for it is wonderfully designed, compared to the AD&D RPG's of the late 80's early 90's this fully rendered imagry is a several steps ahead of its time. Rather than facing a single direction and facing the monsters in that two dimensional space (ala Pools of Radiance) or dealing with tiny poorly rendered individuals who attack one at a time (ala the early Final Fantasy games) You are one individual.. attacked from all sides and able to direct you attacks with the click of a mouse button.
The ease of potion/scroll use is improved by having eight slots for such items in the middle of the screen where they can be readily clicked, or hot-keyed by their number.
The randomized built-in quests keep it from becoming too much of a gore-fest. They also allow the player to gain access to better weapons and other equipment.
I have spent hours... if not days leveling characters... seeking better armors and weapons.... raising stats with potions.... playing and re-playing the levels... Trying it as a Warrior, Wizard, and Rogue.. and I'll admit that it's addictive, but overall it's one of the most fun roleplaying games i've seen on the market.
