| drpaxton's Full Review: Play Snappy Video Snapshot |
I had the opportunity to use one of these little gadgets to help my daughter put together her science project for school, and it was great! For how inexpensive it is, it is an amazing way to capture video and put it onto paper.
What we did was use our camcorder to videotape her science experiment step by step. She was supposed to take lots of photographs to document her experiment. We used the Snappy to transfer stillshots of her work from the videotape onto the computer and then selected images to include in her final report and on her display board. It was great! You could tell the pictures weren't real photos, but I'm sure that was largely due to our inexperience with the device, image resolution, printer paper, etc.
The best part was being able to re-do segments that either didn't turn out the first time or that we hadn't thought of to start with. The updates were instantaneous and we didn't have to wait to have film developed--great when you're working on the display the day before it's due! My daughter won a lot of awards on her project, due to her organizing of her photographs documenting what she did, both in her report and on her display. I'm positive that she wouldn't have done as well as she did without being able to create images this easily. The experience also helped my daughter learn more about the computer (she's 12).
