what video card do I need?

One of the big question a computer consumer can ask is : do I have to upgrade my video card or my CPU?
This article is for those who have bought a computer some months ago and do not want to change the processor or
the motherboard.
Most of the PCs become obsolete very quickly, and playing the latest games at the biggest resolution or quality
often means to keep up to date with new processor or video card. And, it is sure that many people don't want to
spend all their money in something that will only lasts a few months. If you have a something like a K6-2 300-400 I would
advise you (if you don't want to change to something new) to buy a GEforce, this card is expensive but it does some work
of the processor that's why performances can be multiplied per two in many games (quake 3.20 crusher from 25 fps to 40!).
But the Geforce cards are expensive (200-300$ depending on their memory, DDRAM is the better). If you don't want to spend
all of your money a the card, you can buy a Voodoo3 3000 this card works quite well with the K6-2/3 and it's cheaper.
If you have an horsepower system (P3-600..K7-600 and more)and you want to have to best conditions to play, the best is Geforce and you don't have to change your processor! But in that case, you can choose either a voodoo3 3000 or TNT2 ultra (the latest one is very processor dependant that's why it's not a good choice with low speed processor).
To conclude, Geforce is the best, If you have money it's all good. If not try to catch the good one such as the voodoo3 or TNT2 ultra. By the way the new ATI rage MAXX seems good but it's kind of pricy!!!
