As others have said, the technical support is excellent. Even though they don't "offically" support Linux, they helped me when I had a problem getting up and running, and their assistance was prompt, to the point and solved my problem. Wish I could get that with our pals at Microsoft!
Unfortunately, in the Los Angeles area, I've found some unreliability. I'm always able to dial in and get a connection, but sometimes it doesn't actually get me on the Internet. It's a bit bizarre, and I'm sure they're working on it, but it's unnerving. I'd say this happens about every 1.5-2.5 weeks, but when it does, it's exasperating.
That said, I don't have a good basis for comparison, since I haven't used any other modem-based ISP account since I dropped my 28.8 dedicated connection for a 56k dedicated line (a big deal back then!) many years back, so I don't know if this is a problem with all ISPs or related to Mindspring specifically. Knowing the track record of the ISP biz, I'm reluctant to be more than mildly critical of Mindspring for the problem.
