In today's age, with Napster to find all of our favorite MP3's who needs anything else. Well I'm not saying you need Audiogalaxy, I'm just thinking that it could still be useful.
Before the age of Napster, Audiogalaxy was one of the best ways to find whatever song you desired, and can still be referred to as a valuable mp3 finding tool. Audiogalaxy is the type of mp3 search engine that gives you the FTP address of every instance of whatever song you are looking for in their database of FTP sites. There are two types of FTP sites that you will find on Audiogalaxy, Ratio and Non-Ratio.
Non-Ratio Sites When your song/artist is found to be on a non-ratio site, then you can simply click on the link and you browser will acess the stated FTP server that the song you are searching for is on. So, for these types, you don't need any FTP programs such as cuteFTP, lapFTP or eliteFTP. I say you do not need these programs, but you can use such programs for these sites if that is what you prefer.
Ratio Sites If a site is said to have a ratio, that means that you must upload songs to the computer you are trying to download from before they will let you download anything. Audiogalaxy does not allow you to upload to the computer you want to download from, so for these types you need an FTP program such as the ones stated above(these programs are easy enough to get, you can usually find them at cnet.com).
So, although Napster might be the newest, fastest, better way to find your mp3's, there are going to be times where you can't find your song on Napster. When this happens, don't discount Audiogalaxy.
