I love the tray! (that's the small recessed area in the taskbar, in Win95, win98, and the various flavors of NT).
The handiest thing I use there is ClipTray. This was available internally at MS for a long time (I was contracting there), so I was happy to see it released on the Win98 reskit sampler. Look on your win98 cd for this unknown cool thingy.
Cliptray's internal MS name was Canned Text Manager, and that's what it does. It makes long or short text strings available to you with one click, and stores them with friendly names like "external sig file" or "answer to dumb FAQ" so you'll know when to use them. (You create the text strings and name them whatever you want, of course.)
this is handy for HTML folks (urls, code snippets), help desk people (FAQs, or anyone who wants to be the resource person for their department, the one people ask when they don't know what to do.
