Let's face it - digital photography is where it's all going. For 100 years or so film, cameras, snapshots, and photo albums were the accepted methods of saving, showing, and sharing memories. Oh well....time to move on. Why are the excellent cameras becoming so inexpensive? Why are prints, enlargements, etc. becoming available so quick and easy? Because....they're going to be going away....remember 8-track tapes? LP albums? 8mm movie cameras?......bye bye....
As luck would have it, I have been a "photographer" for a long time. Yep, even made a living at it for a short while. Did my own developing, had a darkroom, etc. Fine for yesterday...Now I'm a convert. I love digital cameras. I love being able to send a photo to someone (or everyone)minutes after I take it. Showing them the meal that you just prepared BEFORE you eat it while it's still on the table, is a real kick!
In a very short while, digital will be the media and everyone will be a photographer - that wants to (digital will still allow uncle Fred to cut the heads off of everyone in the picture!)
I started with ADOBE PHOTO SHOP(3 years ago) and when I found out what it could do,I was amazed. Neat stuff. True, you had to sit there and practice but I could amaze my friends - and isn't that what it's all about?
Today, Adobe is still around and thriving! Most digital cameras that you buy (of quality) come with....you guessed it....a FREE copy of Adobe Photo Shop. I like to go with the pros. The guys that have been doing it for awhile and have alot of experience. These days there is alot of competition in this new market of "digital" "E-Photos", etc. Some are tricky, cute, and easy. Me? I'll stick with Adobe and I guess results and satisfaction is the reason. While it's still new, you can download this stuff for free, they have good tech support for the DUMMIES (me included), and they have great product development(they'll keep you current with all the new stuff).
It is, however, like all computer stuff and learning to play the piano, if you don't practice, you don't learn. With a little practice, you can look like a pro with all that Adobe can show you how to do. With little or no practice, you can still, with a few clicks, send the head-less shots to Uncle Fred (and everybody else) on-line with no trouble at all.
