I had been looking for a PDA for some time, I also just moved to NYC. I attended the PC Expo, and Handsprings booth specifically. What I saw impressed me. Not only was Handspring cheap, it was better than PALM devices.
Now, I know what you are saying, all PDA's have the Palm OS, so how much better can it be? Well, the Visor has what is called a Springboard Expansion slot that can be used by any 3rd party company that feels like building a module. Some current Modules include a GPS, a MP3 player, a wireless modem, a wired modem, a Remote Control for electronic appliances, and games like Tiger Woods Golf!!!!!
That only makes the Visors capabilities endless. I also think the pen stylus is more comfortable, Palm organizers have a cheap plastic pen, the Visor, on the other hand, has a pen that can be unscrewed to reveal a philips screwdriver, for breaking down the Visor (if you feel the need) and a reset pin.
The only "Con" that I mentioned was that the OS isn't Flash Upgradable, but who's to say that a third party Vendor, or handspring for that matter, won't come up with a different way to Upgrade the OS!! Get real people, these are the people that originally created the PALM Pilot, to rival Apple's Newton. I'm sure they have the brain capacity to find a way.
Another "problem" people have said to me was that the Visor is thicker than the PALM. I agree, but don't consider it a "Problem", it must be thicker in order to hold all the P-H-A-T modules that make this PDA the KING!!!
