NHL Faceoff 2000 is a great game to play, but there are also some things that need to be improved. Being an owner of Faceoff '98, I must say that the game has been taken to a new and improved level since then, with many glitches being fixed (Faceoff 98 users, you know which ones I mean) and gameplay being enhanced. The graphics and fluidity of the game were also moved up a notch, creating a fun and exciting game to play. Score a hat trick in your home arena, and the ice will get littered with hats. The basic features are the same, and the goalies are easier to score on in the easier levels (as opposed to the 1-0 games played in Rookie mode in '98).
However, NHL 2000, put out by EA sports, is definitely a better game. With faster action, bigger hits, and better graphics, it is just more fun to play, plain and simple. Of course, it is not perfect. The fights suck (especially in comparison to Faceoff), and there are still some ways you are almost guaranteed to score, which date back to the Sega Genesis days. No hats get thrown on the ice after a hat trick, but I think we can live with that.
If you're in for more of a realistic feel, pick Faceoff. If you're just looking for fun, you should pick up NHL 2000, hit hard, and skate fast.
