| boonehouse's Full Review: ABS Supreme DVD System 1 |
I am writing this because I have a particularly bad taste in my mouth about ABS computers. I spent a large portion of my salary this summer (I was a youth ministry intern) on a DVD System from ABS computers. I really liked how easy it was to find a system on their web page and you just couldn't beat the price.
There were four of us that all bought computers at the same time from ABS and all but one of us has had to contact tech support to get help with it. We saw everything from bad sound and network cards to a bad motherboard; not to mention numerous other glitches and crashes that resulted in reformatting the entire system. Granted, since the computers are still under warranty, ABS "stood by" their products, but not without constant prodding and complaining.
When you buy a computer from them and it has some problem (which it probably will; I personally know of 9 people who have bought products from them and 7 have had problems), you will have to hold for close to 30 minutes or they will take your number so they can "call you back in an hour". My experience has only resulted in one call-back within an hour; usually it is three or four hours. After you finally do make contact, the support person will basically treat you like a moron who has no idea how to operate a computer and will just go by what's in their list of known problems and fixes. Any real problem and they have to go to someone higher.
They are extremely rude the entire time and act like it really puts them out to have to help someone with their computer. I finally got tired of it and asked to speak with a supervisor who proceeded to tell me, with a few choice words, that as long as the warranty stands, they'll give me support and that I can't ask for anything more. They have absolutely no regard for the customer; they want your money and then they'll "put up with you" until they are no longer legally obligated. The price is nice, but I say buy Dell
