| Poncho474's Full Review: HP Pavilion 8586C |
I recently purchased the HP Pavillion 8586C home desktop from Sam's Club. This is my first computer purchase and I like the fact that it comes with so many features. The specialized features on the keyboard for internet, volume control and CD/DVD control are a nice plus. With a 31.7 GB hard drive it offers ample space and the CD R/W drive is nice for back up and burning custom audio CD's. I thought it provided a nice combination of features that I couldn't find all together on one system from other manufacturers. I found it extremely easy to set up and use for a first time buyer. Although I haven't used it yet, I understand that HP Support is not a toll free call and think that it should be. The 19" M90 monitor is crisp and clear with a built in microphone. In reading some other reviews I understand that even though it's a 600mhz P3 it performs slower than other 600 P3's because of the integrated graphics chip, the nVidia Riva TNT. It does include an expansion slot for an AGP graphics accelerator although I haven't had any complaints about performance with the 3D gaming I have done. On the downside is the Polk audio speakers which are adequate for most things but for the price I think a subwoofer system would have been nice.
