| GrimLocke's Full Review: Sony VAIO Digital Studio R538 |
I have owned lots of different machines. Ranging from home built machines to Packard bells, and I would have to say that the Sony digital studio PCV-R538DS is the best machine I have ever owned.
I purchased my machine from P.C. Richards about 3 months ago. It has a 500 mhz proc. 164 megs of ram. ITS REALLY FAST. I got this machine over all the others was that my friend had an older VAIO machine and I enjoyed the way that it looked (Not that I care what the machine really looks like).
Also there was the DUAL cd drives, One DVD player, One CDR-w. I really like the fact that when working I can watch a movie, thats great. But whats really great is that in my line of work I have to transport lots of files from my machine to my clients machines and the CDR-W makes that SO EASY!
When I purchased the machine it came with a ATI RAGE card (Video) in its one AGP slot. Due to the need for more graphics power I upgraded the card to a VOODOO3 card. it was a bit hard to get the tower itself open, but once that was done getting the card in and installed was a breeze.
I also really look at a machines ability to be upgraded and this machine has it all. Some machines have the components hardwired directly to the mother board but not this one. YOU CAN UPGRADE EVERYTHING!
So In closing I have to say if your looking for a top end machine from WORK or PLAY i truly suggest the SONY VAIO DIGITAL STUDIO series.
