I have used this scanner at my workplace. The scanner is very good and easy to use. The price is also reasonable. So I planned to get one at home soon. Let see some points that I'm really impressed.
The Speed
I felt the overall speed of this is quiet fast. I really satisfied with it cause sometime I have to scan hundreds of slide a day and it works fast although I have scanned those slide at 600 DPI. It can help me prepare a fine document for printing through the bubblejet printer and fax through the modem in a jiffy too.
The Quality of Scanned Object
Quiet good, acceptable for my web graphic and some printed document. Anyway, I usually have small dots spreaded over the image when I tried to scan from a magazine or printed media. I have tried several techniques to solve this but it didn't work. Anyway it gives me very nice images when I scanned from slides, posters, photos, 3D Objects and etc.
The Software
The software that originally comes with the scanner seems to be obsolete. I have to go to the Acer website and download the new version. BTW the new one comes with more useful functions. The scanning utility let me adjust the variable of the scanned image by choosing from the drop-down list. With the custom option I can also enter my customized number for setting resolutions, brightness, level, and other. There is a wizard to help you get better scanned image by applying some preset variable to the image and showing in small preview. You can also scan several images at the same time too.
The Accessories
Scanner comes with some accessories such as slide pad and film pad. This helps me much. I can scan 6 slides at a time. I didn't have any chance to try the film pad yet.
If you want a multi-purposed scanner that comes with full of quality in standard price. I recommend this one. 8-)
