| pgebheim's Full Review: Adobe Photoshop 6 |
Upon the release of this monumental software package, graphics artist scrambled to install their copies and see just what Adobe added to the best graphics software available to the consumer market today. And many, as I was, were a little disappointed. With this release, we see adobe update the software package and add a few new features. But as 5.5 users may have noticed, not much has changed.
A few new plug-ins a new toolbar and a couple new tools and features, like edit-in-place text, add more to the package but are not enough to sell me on the hefty price tag. Packaging 6.0 with Image Ready was a good move by the honchos at Adobe and that at least ads some needed flavor to the otherwise boring package. The package is much more "web" friendly with this newest release which gives those of us that use it for website work something to grasp onto. However, with all of the available plug-ins for previous releases something still seems to be missing from 6.0. For new users Photoshop 6 is a great, powerful, and useful tool, but for older users 5.5 could do just as well on most things. Still a needed and useful update considering the aging older releases.
