Surely this will go away soon!
A co-worker recommended QuickDot to me. She said it was better than e-mail. I was game, went to the site and signed right up. I set up my preferences to receive email alerts whenever I had new messages.
So far two people (both co-workers) use QuickDot to leave me messages. Here is the routine:
I get an email alert. I have a new QuickDot message. I don't know for sure who it is from, but I have a message waiting. I open my browser, wait for my homepage to load, then go to the QuickDot website and sign in. There is my message, usually a one liner similar to "Hey, hope you're having a good weekend."
So, here's the part I think is incredibly stupid. Each of these people have my email addresses. Wouldn't it be much faster for them to just SEND ME AN EMAIL? I know it would be much less time-consuming for me to GET their message if they did that.
I guess the only possible advantage to this site is if you wanted to leave messages for someone and get messages from them but did NOT want them to have your email address. I still think there'd be easier ways to accomplish that though (a hotmail or yahoo email account).
I finally quit responding on the QuickDot board and would instead reply to my co-workers with an E-MAIL. They seem to be leaving me less messages at QuickDot. (Fingers crossed that this continues)
Hopefully the QuickDot thing will completely fall by the way-side.
