If you're looking for the best SCSI cd-rom available, look no further than the company that has always provided the latest and greatest SCSI cd-roms. Plextor has done it again, and has produced an amazing 40x cd-rom (which actually outperforms many IDE 52x cd-roms).

I love this drive. Installations of various software packages that used to take very long now take very little. Look at the various reviews produced by pc rating guides and magazines. In almost all of them, Plextor's 40 SCSI CD-Rom was able to take the top or second spot for speed. There are faster IDE solutions available now, but if you're looking for SCSI, there is no other choice.

Additionally, audio extraction is extremely fast with this CD-Rom, defeating even the fastest of any IDE or SCSI cd-rom available today.
Overall, this is a great cd-rom at a reasonable price. I highly recommend it. If you are looking for a cd-recorder as well, they offer this drive and their amazing Plextor 8x recorder in a package together for a reasonable price (around $300 I believe).
