| Newskier's Full Review: 3dfx Voodoo4 4500 |
I had owned a Diamond Viper V770 Ultra TNT2 with a 32MB Nvidia chip. While this card had great reviews, it just didn't have the support of the 3dfx brand.
After realizing the majority of the games I wanted to play were made by Electronic Arts (EA) and after seeing that every single game of theres for some reason wasn't compatible with the exact video card I had, I went for the 3dfx Vodoo 4 card.
It has proven to be wonderful. While every review I ever read touts about how much better Nvidia's chips are, the compatability that 3dfx offers in it's chips with games makes it worth my gaming dollar.
I've been playing plenty of newer titles such as Starship Troopers and have found no slowdown or problems with the crisp graphics, even at full detail settings. Support for Glide, OpenGL and D3D seem stable.
Processors and such can't keep up with the rate at which graphics cards are continually being upgraded. This is a decent card that should last you awhile, although it's hard to find it at below the retail rate of $150. Perhaps wait until the next generation of cards comes out to decide.
