I bought this video card to replace my aging Stealth 3D 2000. I needed something that would allow me to play the newer games that required or looked better with a true 3D card. I searched around for a while and did some research and was surprised when I found this card for $40 on an online store. I didn't really expect it to be great since the newer GeForce cards and Voodoos were coming out.
I installed it within a couple of hours of recieving it. The installation actually went very quick and painlessly. Of course my career for the last 5 years has been troubleshooting, fixing and upgrading computers, so I know how things are supposed to go. Once it was installed I loaded the demo games that it came with. Since I hadn't seen what these games were like with my old video card I couldn't compare them with the new one, but just the effects and crispness of the graphics told me it was better.
Then I tried the game that I had mainly gotten it for, NASCAR 3. WOW. Talk about a complete change. It looked like a whole new game. And for the price that I paid it was amazing. Most of the graphic cards for this range were running around $70-$80 still. Since then I have played Unreal Tournament, Quake II, SWAT 3 and my latest Mechwarrior 4. None of them have had a problem with the card and they all look great.
The system that I run it in is home built and is as follows:
CPU: 366 Celeron
Motherboard: Abit BP-6
Memory: 96 MB (recommend at least 64MB)
Video: Maxi Gamer Phoenix 2 8MB AGP
Harddrive: 20.5 Gig
DVD-ROM: 8X
Monitor: 15 inch
Other things that don't matter to this product are Sound Blaster 16, 56K modem, Speakers and Sub-woofer.
Basically you don't need a monster system to run this. The harddrive space that it takes isn't very much, I have the 20 gig HD so I can load the whole game on there.
If you can afford it, a 17" monitor would be a nice add-on with this. I can't give this a 5 because my first choice for a new video card was a Hercules GeForce 256 card, which are made by the same company as this card, I just didn't have the money.
