Compaq PC Companion C-120/140
Written: Oct 02 '99
Pros:long battery life, instant on, size
Cons:Cheap sound, keyboard, operation and loses data
I really tried to like it. We first bought the C-120 model with 2MB ram. It was too slow for anything but basic stuff. Really just a fancy address book. But we wanted to be able to retrieve e-mail and do some web browsing, and take notes in class. It would almost do it. We figured out the C-140 model had twice the ram making it a better unit to install IE pocket explorer on. So we found one on ebay and bought it. So this review is on both the C120 2mb model and the C-140 4mb model. Both are made by Casio for Compaq and casio software can be used. The screen is monochrome and has a greenish backlight. After spending 6 months with these we have decided to sell them. The Pros, battery life, size, instant on, do not outwheigh the cons, too tiny cheap keyboard, poor sound, poor functionality, and Loses data. Data loss is unforgivable. If a device can't be trusted to securely hold your data, it's worthless. I suggest you pass on both of these models and probably the Casio versions too! Also for what's it's worth, Windows CE is nothing to write home about either. We have not tried a Palm Pilot type unit yet, so I guess it's time to read some more epinions. Thanks for reading mine, and save your money, Don't Buy a C-120/140.
