I never really cared much for Photoshop version 4, It didnt have enough of the options I needed. For example, an almost complete lack of undo capabilitys, when drawing 1 undo isnt enough, you need a bunch of them. That was fixed in version 5 though, and with version 5 I became impressed with Adobes software.
Well, in Version 6 beta, and 6 full, I became more than impressed. 6.0 is the best graphics software i've ever used. They added incredible new options for brush size/shape and now they dont have to be symmetrical any more either. There are MANY new shading options, and gradients available, and shapes are handled in a new way, it seems almost like they are vector graphics, but it allows you to work with them as if they are normal drawings. This allows you to give them all special effects though, even when they are on the same layer.
Photoshop 6 employs some new features behind the scenes too, the scratch disk which holds current working data for your pictures, can be placed on a secondary drive to speed up the application, and you can even specify 3 extra scratch disk.
Adobe didnt add any new filters to this edition, but the old ones cover pretty much everything you could need. Version 6 does run quite a bit slower than version 5 did on my computer. Its got alot more going on, so this is expected, but all in all, I love version 6.
