Something has to be said about a game that let's you be anyone or anything that you want to be. If you're the shy type who can never get a girl, on Ultima Online you can be a lady killer. I can go into more examples but I think you have the idea.
Yes, there are many things you can do on Ultima Online but what happens when you're done? That's the problem that I ran into. I enjoyed the game a lot but after meeting a lot of great people, seeing the world and even getting the chance to play with my brother in another state there was nothing left to do. I think that there has to be more substance, like I don't know....maybe scripted adventures. More events happening in cities. Anything but, "Hey let's go here...again."
There seem to be many monsters and they all have different strengths and weaknesses but there is also a huge jump from way to easy, to very hard, nothing in between.
The other big gripe is lag. I can't count how many times I've been killed because of lag. There also seem to be so many people in so many places that there's no such thing as a wilderness. There's always a house somewhere near by and it usually has a player killer inside. I guess these people have a place within the game but it's just not done right.
To sum it all up. Yes Ultima Online is a great game. Yes there are many things to see and do. Yes there are a few bugs that need to be worked out. But there comes a time when you have to think. Is that $9.95 a month really worth it? To be honest, I'd say yes if I had the time and money.
