The SoundBlasterPCI card has delivered good sound quality, various inputs & outputs, and has boosted the flexibility of .wav file recording and mixing on my machine.
I recently upgraded my sound card from a 16 bit-modem/soundcard to the SoundBlasterPCI card. I have seen many improvements so far. Before, the sound on my machine would have tiny "pops" sounding like static that would accompany the sound to certain game video sequences. With the new card that is now gone. Also, before I was not able to take a playing wave file and record it at the same time. This card allows for playback and recording simultaneously.
The only problem I have had so far is that I can not get the joystick port to work on the older DOS games like Need For Speed or Descent. Windows recognizes the joystick, but doesn't pass the driver support through to the DOS applications. With my older sound card the DOS games worked alright through windows with the joystick.
Other than the joystick problem, I am very satisfied with the cards performance and options. The software is comes with is useful for sound editing and manipulation, and it comes with a variety of options for playback of sound files and MIDI connection. I do enjoy the enhanced performance, and recommend this product for an inexpensive upgrade for those with older soundcards and those that have PCI expansion slots available on their machine.
