After hearing so much hype about this game from my friends, I just had to buy it, and to this day, about a year later, I do not regret getting it. This game is addictive!!! When you get it, you won't be able to stop playing for a while...the basic point of the game is to beat all the scenarios. There are goals on each one, such as to have a certain park value, or number of people in your park on a particular date. Each scenario has a different landscape that you must build your park on. As you spend more money for research, you get more rides and attractions such as: numerous types of roller coasters, food stands, thrill rides, water rides, gentle rides, and other misc. attractions such as a 3-D cinema and a moving simulation ride. The requirements to beat the scenario get harder and harder as the game goes on. In addition to simply selecting a pre-made ride and adding it to your park, you can design your own ride, such as a roller coaster, piece by piece. The only problem I have with doing this is that I make the coasters too intense and the people don't want to go on them. There are numerous details you can change about your park such as the name, the price to get in, in some cases you can buy and sell land, you can raise and lower land and water levels as well. You hire security guards, mascots, handymen and mechanics. You can do things to these guys like name them, change their outfits,and even give them a designated area to patrol! This is the only game of this type that I have ever played and really liked, and if you like designing roller coasters like I do, or if you're interested in architecture, or you just like games like this, I strongly recommend Roller Coaster Tycoon to you! This game is great for players of all ages; even my six year old sister loves it!
