Superb Graphics Card

After having my Voodoo2 for a couple years I decided that it was finally time for an upgrade. I get on the Internet and start searching for something that was affordable yet high quality and could fill my gaming needs for the next few years. I found myself looking at and eventually buying the Leadtek Winfast GeForce 256 DDR.
I had read up on this card earlier and found that when NVIDIA announced the card it was praised as a new advancement in technology that would revolutionize the graphics card industry. It would include many on-board enhancements that would do a lot of the work for the processor which would free up a ton of power so the games could provide better AI, game physics as well as letting the gaming companies improve the overall quality of their games while still maintaining a life-like frame count.
Now, DDR is short for Double Data Rate-Synchronous DRAM, a type of SDRAM that doubles the memory chip's throughout and doubling the bandwidth. It eliminates bottlenecking and expands the output capabilities of this card.
When I broke it out of the package, I found that installation of the hardware and the software was a breeze. The drivers and software that accompanied the card installed on the first try. As soon as I started up Quake 3, I noticed a great improvement in the graphics and an explosive amount of speed that had never been there before. I don't know if it's the overall card, or the addition of the DDR memory.. but the effects that this card has is astonishing!
This card, in my opinion only has a few drawbacks. The card's price was up there at around $325 and I'm sure it's in the low $200's now. The drivers are also weaker in performance and compatibility then they should be and hopefully this will be fixed in the near future.
Overall, this is a great package even for $325. I recommend this card to anyone.. Happy Gaming!
