This is what all the internet services are talking about when they say firewall. It is a device or piece of software that prevents anyone from accessing your computer. I use the Excite@Home service for broadband cable internet and when I was going to connect my network to theirs I found out I would need to buy an additional IP address for each computer on my network if I just hooked it into my hub. Instead I bought this little device and in 5 minutes I had it routing web pages out through my network using only ONE IP address for the whole network. It has a very fast setup that is web based through any computer on the network. It even has a DHCP server that will assign IP addresses to computer on your network. It doesn't provide all the functionality like some software such as wingate but I don't have any problems with this one unlike wingate and it doesn't require a dedicated computer. I would definitly recommend this device to anyone trying to connect their home computer to their cable or DSL service.
