I received my Sager 3360-I via ups ground ($35..too much) within three days of ordering it from the manufacturer. The package is precisely as advertised. The only significant software included is Windows 98 SE. Overall, after two days, and several hours of use, I am well satisfied with it. The display is bright and sharp. The computer IS fast...(as it should be with a P-III 700 12 GB 128K). So far I have loaded several programs and set up the modem for internet and fax use. (No fax software is included on the machine.)
The only criticisms I have thus far is that the entire keyboard seems to flex while typing. The bounce of the keys is a little distracting when typing, but the tactile feel is not bad. I stuck a DVD in the drive, and it played flawlessly, although the picture was fairly sensitive to angle of view darkness if you are not directly in front of the screen. The sound suffers a bit from lack of volume (a problem with most notebooks due to speaker size and power limitations.) It works well with earphones, as you would expect. The brightness/contrast controls provide very limited range of adjustment, but the factory setting is very good for most applications tested thus far.
Overall, compared to other notebooks in the $2100 range, I would rate the SAGER 3360-I with it's speed, tons of features, and capability, an extremely good buy. I have not seen any other notebook that can compare feature for feature at the same or even near the same price.
Note: (09-12-00) the "bounce or flex" noted in the keyboard turned out to be caused by the keyboard not being totally "snapped" into position. I noted that the left side was slightly higher than the other...and upon pushing firmly on the "escape" key, it snapped down, and that fixed the problem. Also, I had a chance to use Sager's tech support to ask how to configure the computer to generate more than 5 drive letters. This is more of a Windows 98 question, but "David" from Sager's tech support emailed me a solution very quickly. A phone call to another Sager tech rep got a non-responsive answer however, as he would only suggest I call the manufacturer of the device I wanted to add for the info. Bottom line though, they (David) helped me find my solution in reconfiguring my Config.sys file.
