| ngoat72's Full Review: Hewlett Packard HP PhotoSmart Ink-jet Printer |
I purchased the HPp1000 photo printer from best buy. I was a real challenge to find it in stock anywhere despite not even being on sale. The printer cost was about $400, but purchasing a printer connection cord (to computer) was not included (about $20). The printer is great quality - the best I have seen for printing photos from a digital camera. The layering technology is what makes the quality so excellent. The Lexmarks photo printer was my second choice, but pales in comparison to the quality of the HP P1000 photo printer. It is extremely easy to use and reasonably fast to print out photos.
The caveats are having to purchase the printer cable (forementioned), the cost of the printing cartridges - color around $35 and the high maintenance it requires. The manufacturer recommends professional cleaning about every 6 monthes or when streaking appears on pictures. It is highly recommended to get the best buy extended service aggreement for this printer. It is however a money saving device if you e purchased the fujimx1200 digital camera which doesn't come with a USB connection so transfering images is very slow. The printer allows very rapid transfer of the images to the computer. In general, the ease of use of the printer and the quality make it an excellent purchase. Be careful of the printer cartridges, if you touch the metal head, it will not work in the printer and you have wasted the cartridge - a costly and frustrating mistake!!! Don't even breath on it!!!
