Pros:Fast 12x writing speeds
Cons:CDRW/ UDF packet writing/reading BAD!
I had a Philips Omniwrite cd writer. It was troublesome right from the beginning. The most irritating problem was that whenever the philips writer tried to read a disk, it would freeze the computer for 10-15 seconds. I buy this latest top of the line tdk drive and it also does the same thing. Not only that, it is unable to read Packet written (UDF/ direct cd) disks 1 out of 5 times. The drive just thinks and freezes my computer for 10-15 seconds before flashing it light to indicate an error. My no-brand name cheap cd rom can easily read the same cd without any problems and at much higher speeds. I was hoping that after 3 years, cdrw technology would have advanced but i guess its still there. sure the speeds have gone up for writing but no one seems to care about the iritating aspects of this technology like the one i mentioned above.
The drive makes cdr's easily. Takes a long time to format a cdrw. basically this drive is troublesome if you try to work with cdrw's.
