| maddieslyo's Full Review: Altec Lansing ACS 33 Computer Speakers |
I have a dell Dimension XPS T500 which initially came with $25 Harman Kardon speakers. I decided to upgrade to the ~$60 ACS speakers and woofer because my video games needed a little extra oomph. Boy, was I happy I did! The speakers are very versatile and perform well under conditions where you'd normally have a computer. A few notes that I've had while using them for over two years:
- The bass is excellent, and it vibrates throughout my house when it is turned up to full volume. However, at high volumes, the bass sound starts to crackle a little bit and muffle the overall pitch.
- There is a port for headphones on the left side of the right speaker, which comes in very handy for when you want to crank up a song but you don't want to wake up the entire gang.
- The subwoofer fits very easily under most desks, and is not obtrusive like many other woofers that come with other speaker sets.
- The sound quality is high, except at the highest volume (which is to be expected, as almost any computer speaker cannot perform at optimal quality at the highest volume setting).
- The speakers are very good at transmitting sound effects, music, and dialogue for video graphic cards, high performance role playing games, and sports games.
- The speakers show no signs of wear and tear, despite being transported quite frequently around the house, disassemble and reassembled numerous times, and also being played every day.
Overall, these are excellent speakers which will appease all but the most demanding music enthusiast!
