I'm probably a little premature on this due to the fact that I just got my laptop recently, but I couldn't be happier so I thought I would share that.
Let me first begin by saying that I did extensive research on the net on just about every laptop on the market and I have found this one way the most bang for my buck.
I was a little disappointed with the service I received during manufacturing due to the fact that I received it three weeks later than the date I was told I would receive it. Each time I called I would basically get the run around and a different story each time on why it was delayed. And, when you have business to take care of and pressing on something that should have been there 2 weeks ago, it can be a little hectic to say the least!
I have the Pentium II-600 with the Speed Step Technology, the 15" SVGA+ screen, 64 MG RAM, 8X DVD, and upgraded to the 12 GB Hard drive. I could not be happier with this system. The screen is super crisp and it surprisingly arrived with NO DEAD PIXELS!! The battery lasts quite a while although unfortunately I haven't really been in a situation where I didn't strictly rely on battery power. So, I can't really guess the daily usage other than a few hours going by what I've used it for. The processor is super fast. I have a P II-400 at home and I'm just amazed at the laptop.
From what I've heard, (I haven't personally had to use it) the technical support is incredible which is one of the factors that played into my decision. I opted for the 3 year on site repair which I think was standard with this model and I also opted for the additional 2 year warranty for $159.00 in case the screen scratches, cracks, spills, drops, and things of that nature. So, I think I'm pretty much covered.
I haven't purchased any additional memory but I plan to at the www.crucial.com website. I compared prices and it's a whopping savings between the two.
I was a little concerned about it being heavier than usual but I can take the DVD out and put the space saver in when I'm not using it so that is an added plus.
The keyboard is full size which is nice and for once the keys are far up so your hands aren't in an uncomfortable or awkward position while typing. It has 2 type 2 slots or 1 type 3, USB ports, TV out port, and the other standard ports (keyboard, mouse, docking station, printer, etc.)
Overall, I think the product is excellent and is backed with outstanding product support (I have called customer service after the fact that it was late and the service was much better).
