ICQ-Chat Friendly

Written: May 30 '00
Pros:Easy to use, Free
Cons:Unwanted random messages, sounds

ICQ is great for people who want to keep in touch with others for free. I use this program every day and it's never failed me once. It is really easy to use, the web page has step-by-step instructions on how to download, use, and make the most of your ICQ.

I've used ICQ ever since I got my computer. It has been very handy when I've wanted to talk to people who would cost money calling long distance, keep in touch with friends and family, and leave messages for people. It has many features such as voice messages, regular instant messages, chat rooms, sending web page addresses, and various files. There is also a "people search" that lets you find anyone from people you know, to random people you'd like to chat with. The "Random Chat" feature has come in handy many times when I've been bored and wanted to talk to someone new.

There is a downside to ICQ, however. Random people can send you things such as messages and web page addresses that you'd rather not have. This can be fixed by simply adding them to your ignore list, or filtering out things like that so they can't be received. The common "Uh-Oh" that many users are familiar with can get annoying, but by simply choosing to turn the sound off on your preferences will take care of that.

All around, ICQ is a great chat program, and it's free so you never have to pay for this great service.
