I have purchased two of these cards for installation into older Pentium based computers. I had "older" machines with no AGP slots, and run of the mill 2D cards. Installing the Voodoo 3 2000 PCI, doubled and tripled the frame rates of 2D games, and added 3D performance that rivals some built in AGP graphics on newer low end computers with twice the processor speed! Not only games sped up, but all my applications seem to run faster. This upgrade rivals and possibly exceeds installing a speedier processor.
If you are a serious gamer expecting to use large resolutions, I would stick with the higher end graphics cards.
I did find an incompatibility with one system I tried to install it in, a Pentium Pro 200 with an ECS motherboard, it does not work! If you do install it in a system, and it has problems with some games, be sure to download the latest drivers, as the ones at 3dfx's site are more updated than the ones that come on the install CD.
I have one card in a Pentium 133 system, another in a Pentium 233MMX. The increased graphics speeds allows these older machines to be useful even today
