| Jettison's Full Review: Ticnet (Dallas) |
I used to frantically switch from free ISP to free ISP, trying hard to avoid lots of advertising and inconvenient hookups. If I had known such a cheap and dependable local ISP in Ticnet was available for the Dallas area, I might have given up the struggle long ago.
The setup of my account was painless and very short, completing all the brief application process online. I had to call a service representative to confirm my password, and I was surfing in minutes! And the plan that I chose was the monthly basic service of 14.95 a month, very competitive for the product you receive.
I had no desire for the fancy, user-friendly and cosmetic providers like America Online. I wanted a number to dial into, that allowed me to simply browse the internet as I please. At this time, Ticnet seems to be a little known secret in the Dallas area, and I can count on two fingers the times I have gotten a busy signal while trying to access the internet, both during peak hours. Not a bad performance, especially considering that on both occasions I connected on the second attempt just minutes later.
If you are looking for a dialup internet connection in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, I would highly recommend ticnet. The short and phonic name makes for easy email addresses, and the quality of connection and access has been phenomenal. And thankfully, I no longer have to look at scrolling commercials and ads that always sit on top of my browser! It's worth the 15 dollars a month!
