How to EASILY notify network providers that you have been spammed!

Like everyone else, I hate spam. I finally found a free service that does an excellent job of reporting my spam to the network providers. Because I like to use on-line free e-mail (like Excite and Yahoo!) I am at their mercy for spam filters. These do not work well at all. I tried learning how to read the message headers to report the message. While I am a fairly bright person, I could never figure them out.

Enter "Spamcop!"

Check out:

They offer a free service where you just cut and paste your spam (with headers) into their form and they take care of the rest. It took a little effort initially to sign up, because they do want to verify your e-mail address.

After you paste a message into their form, the free service gives you a 5 second delay asking you to sign up for their pay service. After that, you can see a while list of how the program deconstructs the headers and finds out where the spam originated. It also tells you how often that provider has been a source of spam.

Spamcop then automatically constructs a message and gives you the option of sending it to the network provider where the spam orginated. You send the message and you feel like you are making a small dent in stopping the spam in this world. Now if everyone were to report spam, perhaps we could cut down on this trash!
