| rcotter's Full Review: Alps MD 1300 Dye Sublimation Printer |
I purchased the ALPS to do color photograph prints. It did a beautiful job, for a while.
After a year it started eating the $12.00 color tapes that take the place of ink cartridges in the printer. The regular tapes work fine, the photo color tapes get eaten. After $100.00 worth of tapes have been eaten, I think it is time to let this baby go!
Alps' web site says that for $185.00, not including my shipping, they will repair the printer for me. That's $185.00 + $100.00 in eaten cartridges and another $50.00 to get more cartridges. You tell me if it is worth the money.
If you want good dye sublimation printing and you are willing to pay out the big bucks once a year, then this one is for you. If, however, you want good quality color and don't want to pay through the nose, look elsewhere.
