This is my second purchase of a Dell computer and I'm very happy with it. The Dimension L733 w/ 128MB ram, 20GB hard drive and all other options standard was $1100 (it came with a Lexmark color printer, too). I wanted a simple, but powerful PC to use for running multiple Office applications and web design. I found it all in a budget Dell.
I bought my first Dell in 1996, and XPS200. It could only be upgraded to 64MB of ram and I wanted a PC with a USB port and AGP graphics card capability. My main goal for my new dell was a processor and Ram. I didn't care about the 15-inch monitor since I was going to use my 17-inch from my previous Dell. Nor did I care about installed software, the CD-ROM, or keyboard.
I received my Dell a full week before I expected to get it. My first order of business was replacing the stock CD-rom with a CD-RW. It was such a breeze. The Dimension L cover slides off with ease and it took about 30 seconds to slide out the original CD and replace it with the CD-RW. I've been using the machine for over a week now and have not had any technical difficulties.
The only thing I'm not looking forward to is replacing the graphics card. I want to upgrade to a card that has TV out jacks, but the card is located in an awkward spot behind the power supply. I'm sure it will take more than 30 seconds to replace.
Other than that, I'm very happy with this computer. I'm confident that the computer as is will satisfy my needs for the next couple of years without alteration, and since there is another free RAM slot, upgrading to 256MB of ram in two-three years should be a snap.
