I have been using this card for about 3 years now. It is the best sound card I have ever used. Not only for the hardware, but the software that comes with it makes editing and creating audio very easy. The bad news about this sound card is that it is very hard to find on the market these days. I have only been able to find it at certain web based vendors. The price is still up there at aboput 75 dollars because people still request this card. Here is why.
This card was made for those people who take sound seriously. Whether it be listening or creating and editing. I have mine hooked up to my entertainment system. It sounds great. It is also easy to edit music, edit music, whatever you want to do to it. It comes with a base of 4megabyte of memory, you can order the expansion for it and boost it to 16megabytes. It is worth the extra money to do this. IT allows more music to be sampled.
Here is the reason they call it the AWE64 Gold, it has the gold RCA connectors, so you can hook this up directly to the entertainment system that you are getting the audio from, or sending it to. Simply, this means that the sound will be much more clear because you are not using any adapters that decrease the quality of the signal.
This is great for games too. When you have the sounds from your favorite game thundering through your system, it will rock your house. Even if you are a a newcomer to editing audio, this is a great card for you to use. It is the best, and it is the easiest to use and hook up to your system.
