The one reason i purchased the 3800 series over the other dell laptops was because of the pointer mouse in the keyboard. No other models had it, and so i went with the 3800. I modified it to a 750 processor with 10 gigs and opted not to get the dvd drive. This is an option and you will have to decide whether it is worth the extra money. After placing my order, dell quoted me a delivery time within two weeks but it only took 5 days for me to get the computer. I was very excited, and it came neatly packaged with all the parts i had requested. I also received a free canon printer with my purchase. A great thing about dell computers is that you do not need to install anything. Everything is setup for you.
I chose this computer over other companies because i have a good experience with dell, and i wanted a custom made computer. I looked at IBM's prices and decided that they were too high. The only thing i don't like about the 3800 series is that you cannot use the cd rom drive with the disk drive at the same time. You can but the disk drive must run externally with a cable which will disable your printer. Although not a big deal for me, it would be nice to have both. This does however make the laptop very portable and light. Along with the laptop i bought an extra battery and the upgrades i mentioned earlier. I think anyone would benefit from this computer. I am a college student, and a lot of my assignments are online, so it really helps me. I would also recommend it to businessmen who travel frequently and need a computer during these trips.
