Rebate Information
Nov 08 '00 (Updated Feb 05 '01)
The Bottom Line COMPUSA monitor rebate received Feb 2, 2001. After all the aforementioned turmoil, and having provided my home address, COMPUSA ended up mailing the rebate to my post office box anyway.
It might help other people out to know how CompUSA handled my request for a $50 rebate on one of their house brand computer monitors. I sent in a copy of my sales receipt, along with the proper form from their rebate rack and a UPC code from the box the monitor came in. A few weeks later I got a notice in my mailbox that reads as follows: Dear Customer. Thank you for participating in this promotion. Unfortunately we could not honor your request because of the following reason(s)
WE CANNOT HONOR YOUR REQUEST WITHOUT YOUR STREET ADDRESS.
Silly me. I had given them my post office box address because I work during the day and consider my post office box a more secure mailing address than the mailbox at my residence. I will shortly be (re)sending my request back to the return address with my home address. I'm not sure exactly why they need it (Are they coming over to help me with my yard work? Maybe watch the kids for me so I can take the wife out for dinner?) In any event, such bureaucratic nonsense doesn't sit well with me. They had no trouble finding me to let me know they WOULDN'T honor my request. You'd think they could have just sent the check. Just thought you guys would like to know.
