Winbook a Great Value

Apr 06 '00

I write this review from the perspective of someone who was a sales manager for an IT integration firm (company that sells computers, etc. to large corporations), as well as an owner of computer equipment. In this capacity, I have had the opportunity to see many different kinds of equipment and also see many problems/successes related to this equipment.

I have owned my Winbook XL for 3 years and have had excellent luck both with the performance of the laptop and service from the manufacturer.

About a year after I received my laptop, it was hit by lightening through the telephone line, frying the modem and a printer port. Winbook replaced these parts at no cost, shipping Next Day Air to me, even though this was beyond the warranty period. The support people were great.

In addition to a reliable machine, Winbook seems to provide more laptop for the money than many other brands. It is not a name brand, or a "Tier A" product (what IBM, Compaq and HP are referred to in the computer world), but who cares? The most important things when purchasing a PC are the names on the parts you see in the INSIDE, not the name on the outside (and the warranty service of the manufacturer).

I would highly recommend Winbook laptops.
