Had to send it back 5 times for repair

Cons:Ruins CDs, not worth amount paid.
I got the Memorex 4224 CD-RW for my birthday last September from my Parents. I had only had the product for one week when it would leave "chunks" out of the cds that I was recording to. Now all the CDs are good for are drink coasters. So I brought the thing back to Staples where my parents had purchased it. They gladly took it back and gave me a new one. I had this new one for about a month when it started doing the same thing that the first one did. So I took it out of my computer AGAIN and brought it back to Staples. This time they told me that there 15-day return policy had gone by and I would have to send it back to the company. I was pretty mad about this but it wasn't until I called the Memorex tech. line that I was really in for a surprise. When I called the 800 number that was given on the manual they told me that this number was not in service anymore and they gave me another number which is not an 800 so it costs money to get their so-called help. I then called the new number and got a person who could barley speak English. He told me that I would need to send the product back to Memorex's HQ in Torrance, CA for service. I thought this would be fine so I took the address and sent it in. I waited about 3 weeks and one day it finally arrived at my door. I eagerly put it back in my computer and went back to work burning CDs. A week later the same problem started happening again. It wouldn't record a disc properly. I called Memorex Tech. line again and got the same guy who again told me to send it in. This was in December, now it is July and i have sent the product in 2 more times since then. Now it’s broken again for the 5th time doing the same thing. I am very upset with Memorex; they won't even give me a refund or pay for shipping. I don't think I'm gonna send it in again. I think I’m just gonna throw it out and get a Plextor. That is 200 dollars down the drain. Don't make the mistake I did...
