Pros:Ease of Use
Cons:Messes up often (if proper precautions aren't taken); little control
Adaptec Easy CD Creator is a product that I have been using for over a year. I started with V. 3.5 and took a brief look at 4.0. The ease of use, which was very good in version 3.5, was significantly improved by a minor interface tweak in version 4. As far as the product merits themselves, I doubt they merit a 3. There is relatively little control by the user over the "burning" process, an area which is the strength of Easy CD Creator chief competitor CDR-Win (made by Golden Hawk Technologies). Also, I had a problem while trying to make mixes with CDs: Tracks would run into each other, so song 1 would start on track 1 and finish on track 2, while song 2 would start in the middle of track 2. Clearly an unacceptable result. To prevent this from happening, I had to select "create CD Image" from the file menu and then "burn" the CD from the Image. Buffer underruns, a fatal problem for CDs, are very rare (as long as you don't use your computer while the CD is burning). Except for experts, I recommend this product strongly.
