| kevinlover's Full Review: Lexmark Color Jet 1100 InkJet Printer |
The best part about the Lexmark 1100 is the cost, and it also allows you to print color and black pages with one cartridge. It is also easy to install. However, that is about all that is good about this printer. Text looks more gray than black when using a color cartridge, so buying a black cartridge seems like the obvious choice. Of course, this means that Lexmark makes money and you lose it. The paper feed is ridiculous, pulling pages through two, three, or six at a time. I cannot tell you how many times I got a "paper jam" message on my screen while trying to print word processing documents. The user's manual says that 30 pages can be loaded at once. Try five, Lexmark, if you're lucky.
As for printing from the Internet, you can forget it. As soon as one document is printed, the queue starts backing up, and purging or canceling documents does not solve your troubles. At the high school in my town, every teacher has a computer equipped with a Lexmark 1100, and they experience identical problems with their printers.
In conclusion, beware of this printer; prices can be deceiving.
