You can't go wrong with Zonelabs

benami's Full Review: Zone Alarm
Everyone who is online today needs a firewall. Not just cable and DSL users. You can be hacked even if you use an analog dial up modem. Protect yourself with a good firewall. The two best are Black Ice Defender and ZoneLabs Zone Alarm. Personally, I think ZoneAlarm is the better of the two, because it works on outbound as well as inbound, and I believe Black Ice Defender only works on inbound. Also, the basic Zon Alarm is free. However, if you are running a network at home, you'll need a fireall that supports internet connection sharing (ICS/NAT) and for that, you'd have to upgrade to Zone Alarm Pro, which does cost around $30. or $40.

It's worth every penny of it though, to protect your PC and any information you store on it, especially if you do on-line banking, trading etc., or have a lot of passwords stored there.
