| razza28's Full Review: Dell Dimension XPS T500 |
Great system - competitively priced - I checked the pricing against all the other majors and Dell won out because (1)their reputation for service etc (this has proved correct), (2) they don't charge sales tax in CA and (3) I own their stock!
I have been very happy with this. Used as a family home PC - of course it's the kids software that is the most demanding. I have lots of peripherals connected - Intel PC cam, Intel Play microscope, joystick, digital video camera (serial), printer and lego transmitter (for kids models). I had to buy an additional USB hub to support all these things - but everything installs without problem.
I recently experienced a problem with booting up and after a 15 minute phone call with Dell they decided to replace the mother board. 2 days later I get a call from a local technician who comes out late the same afternoon and installs a new mother board. All of this under the standard 3 year warranty - that's what I call service.
I would always (and have to a number of family & friends who have bought based on what I said) recommend Dell unless there is a real price advantage to a competitors product and you are really computer savvy - I have since also bough a Dell laptop for my work which I am also pleased with.
By the way, check out their refurb department as they often have good systems at lower prices sold with a full warranty.
